Rooms for the people who live in them, throughout Oxford

Our manifesto

Creating rooms for who we are,
and how we actually live.

Ferrow Studio is a small interior design practice that makes calm, useful, unshowy houses. We work with our clients, a short book of trades we trust, and the makers and suppliers we have used for a decade, to turn Victorian terraces and Edwardian villas into houses that suit the people in them now. Every project gets the same care over the details nobody photographs: where the sockets go, how the door swings, what the hall looks like on a Tuesday. The rooms are photographed a year after we leave, because that is when they are honest.

We work in North Oxford, Jericho, Summertown and Headington, in the villages around the city, and occasionally further into the Cotswolds.

What it is actually like to renovate a Victorian house with Ferrow Studio

Renovating an old house is a big undertaking, and it takes longer than most people think. Here is exactly what is involved, and the process we built so that a whole-house project does not take over your life. It starts with a story about a client on Park Town who bought a villa for its garden and then discovered the drains.

Kind words
“I am thrilled, and feel lucky, to live in the house Ferrow Studio made for us. They took tremendous care, noticed everything, and gave us rooms that are somehow warm and calm at the same time. Two years on we have not moved a single chair.”
